Don't let the shill or creator Ralf himself (or all his alternates) on the vr forums fool you. VorpX is garbage. It will never work as its hyped up to do. Too much tinkering just to get to an at least something acceptable but still shitty VR experience. ThePirateBay.TO - Download torrents, music, movies, games, apps, software and much more. Maybe the app itself is DRM-free, just remember when I bought it had to wait for an email from Ralf to activate my account manually. People saying its trash more likely used an earlier version, when it was DK 2 level VR, but with the newer updates it allows room scale in a lot of games, and using the DirectVR stuff that he's implemented all you have to do is press 2 button and it scans the game and auto-applies the Direct VR profile. It might not be 'turn any game you want into VR' but if you understand what you are paying for its good enough and always improving.

But sadly, TriDef decided NOT to update their driver for the DK2, making most of my library obsolete. VorpX is good, but the control settings are a bit less flexible, and bit more complicated than TriDefs were. And because VorpX is new, their library of compatible games isn't nearly as big. VIREio is free, but (from what I've heard) it's the most technical of the three. Not impossible, but definitely a higher learning curve.
Well, certainly it would be a waste to spend $40 on Tridef as it has no DK2 support. Vireio Perception is fun to mess with for a bit but I haven't had much luck getting things properly playable on it. Skyrim just left me a bit ugh. Left 4 Dead worked okish but I could never make things quite comfortable enough despite endless tweaks. I ended up spending the forty bucks for VorpX and it did what it says on the tin.
I say you give Perception a try and if you guys can handle injectors and want more, split the cost of VorpX with your roommate to play more games. If you want to mess with non-native VR support, definitely check out Dolphin VR as well. Paper Mario, Soulcalibur 2, and Wind Waker all work great without much fuss. Elite: Dangerous would be my first purchase tho!
