Same problem here. I didn't download anything deliberately (no browser used, etc), but apparently my machine did it automatically. I just got a message of an 'important update from Dell'; Dell XPS 8700 System BIOS A10, and when I click install, I get the 'bad command line parameter' error. Dell Support Assist shows that it is installing, but isn't actually doing anything. If I click 'okay', I get a message that it installed successfully, but then a few days later I get the same update message, repeat process/results.

Have you checked to see if A10 is actually running now and this is just a 'false alarm' from Support Assist? And BIOS A 12 is available now.
So maybe you should update manually to that one from the link in my previous post, which might stop SA from nagging you.
