Installed software is Chemstation version A. We can operate the HPLCs with the installed program. I inquired with Agilent rep regarding the 21 CFR Part 11, and he said that version A, B are not in compliance, only C is in full compliance. Also, the software is not transferable (per Agilent), and we must buy full version, at the cost of >$30K.

Problem is, I've already got 2 5890s with autosamplers on one computer. As far as I understand, that's the maximum allowable instruments Chemstation will support on one computer.
I have no idea where my predecessor put the original software disc. If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it!
In spite of having install version of the software you need to have valid license for it. Have you bought this GC with software? Vista equity standard operating procedures.
Is there a label with license number? For Chemstation MSD B.02 is the last version that will operate a 5890. It is designed to run on NT 4.0 Win 2000 also works but XP I've heard conflicting reports about. I was going to try and put mine on XP with B.02 but I use the 82341C ISA HPIB controller and IOlibraries that run on XP won't supoort the controller card. 14.2 is the last one stated to support the 8341C card but that would not talk to the 5890 so I went all the way back to H version. It is all running fine now.
Unichrom and Clarity will run a 5890 mainly via RS-232 and the 7673 with INET in Unichrom. Hi, Did you get any program CD from Agilent? Our firm recently acquired 2 used Agilent HPLCs with PDA and RID (Previously we had Shimadzu and Dionex HPLCs).
I have got quote for Clarity CDS for $4K, with documentation showing it is full compliance. Our new QA head only wants Waters and Agilent, but not other brands. Is there another seller of Chemstation version C? Thank Alfred.
Alfred, unfortunately the OpenLAB ChemStation is not compliant unless you add the OpenLAB ECM or DataStore to it. That adds up to the price. The bigger brother for ChemStation is OpenLAB EZChrom. That is compliant without a central database like ECM and DataStore. The only requirement here is that you integrate the EZChrom workstation in the domain and re-use the domain credentials.
If you are looking around then ask your Agilent rep for this. Note: in some occasions where customer already have OpenLAB core licenses we swap them from Chemstation to EZChrom at no licenses costs. However, the actual work for IQ/OQ (validation) remains. Q Did the Clarity come with full documented IQ/OQ? No validation, no compliance! Hi: Just a follow up about the issues with Agilent Chemstation software.
I wish that Agilent had provided the patches/upgrades for free, because the version A is not compliant with current regulations (Part 11 for electronic records). According to the Agilent rep, these solutions: ECM, Data store, and EZChrom are similar in prices, about 35K-50K USD. We have got 2 Agilent LCs with version A (using windows XP); however, it was impossible to get the newer software for gratis. I got a job change (for real) because I was unable to get the software patches. Alfred88 wrote: Chemstation version A has one major problem: It does not generate audit trails. This is one of the requirements of 21 CFR Part 11. The compliant requirements with Part 11 is big in pharma.
Until about 1.5 years ago we used A.09 and ChemStore, and I fully believe that we were fully compliant with 21CFR11. I believe a big issue for those like you is that even if you bought and installed old ChemStore, Agilent does not support it any longer so you would have a non-validated system? Or something like that. And don't the regulations allow printing everything and keeping that, like the original 21CFR11 had been relaxed somewhat? Anyway, I'm a lab scientist, not a regulations person.
